When sales aren’t what they could be, it’s sometimes tempting just to ‘do some marketing’, maybe print some flyers, get a radio ad written or book some space in a magazine. Everyone feels better don’t they?

However, no truly effective marketing campaign ever really succeeded without good thinking behind it. So there’s little point in just selecting an agency based on the media they’ve used before such as the lovely TV campaign they produced or the shiny website they built.

It’s like buying a boat because it’s big, or a nice colour. Worse than that, without thinking, you get a boat without a compass, a chart or even a rudder.
